“SPANISH school Bla! in El Médano joined forces this week with wine producers Frontos to combine some Canarian culture with language learning.
A group of students studying Spanish at Bla! academy enjoyed an educational guided tour of the local vineyard in Chimiche.
They saw how the wine was produced and heard about the elaboration of the company’s popular, ecological white wine.
They also enjoyed a wine-tasting session, accompanied by local cheeses, while practising their Spanish with other students from the school.
Samantha Henderson, who owns the school, understands the importance of learning a language in an enjoyable way.
“At Bla! We try to collaborate with local businesses to give our students a more practical learning experience and take advantage of our ideal location here in Tenerife,” she said.
“Our groups are filled with people of all different nationalities, who are keen on meeting new people and learning a little more about the rich Canarian culture.
“So this visit to the bodega was another great way of enhancing their new language skills in a fun environment.”
Babel Language Academy, which opened last September, has been organising various initiatives to keep students busy, and ensuring they make the most of their time on the Island.
Every second Sunday, they have a conversation exchange in surf bar Chirinstones, in Plaza Galicia, which is in front of the school.
It benefits not only their foreign students but also the local Spaniards learning English at Bla!
Only a few weeks ago, they were also singing along to flamenco and digging in to some tasty tapas in Tasca La Corrala, Los Abrigos.”
